2025 Kia K5 Sees New Updates
Kia will be making several updates to the 2025 Kia K5. The mid-size sedan will see a new powertrain option as well as new styling updates. Kia is hoping that these new updates will keep the K5 looking fresh and competitive as one of its popular models. As of late, Kia has been focused on bringing its all-new Kia EV9 to markets. This latest EV comes as part of the South Korean automaker’s goal to release 11 EVs by 2026. While EVs remain a main focus for many automakers, it’s good to see Kia paying attention to its ICE lineup. For now, we’ll take a look at the 2025 Kia 5 and see what consumers can expect from the new updates.
2025 Kia K5 Arrives With New Updates
Kia is providing the 2025 Kia K5 with new updates including a new powertrain and new styling. The mid-size sedan has seen several changes over the years, but the latest updates add some quality-of-life changes and additional features. For styling, the Kia K5 sees a new front fascia as well as new headlights and taillights that reshape the front and rear ends of the car. At the front, new amber daytime running lights zigzag into the K5 creating a distinct design. The back sees larger taillights that curve downward into the bumper. For wheel options, the base LXS trim rides on 16-inch wheels while the top-of-the-line GT trim sees 19-inch wheels.
For performance updates, the 2025 K5 sees the addition of a new naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder engine. This replaces the previous turbo 1.6L engine which has been removed as an option. The new 2.5L pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission and delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive being available for the GT trim. For those wanting more power, the GT trim features a turbocharged 2.5L engine that delivers 290 horsepower. It also features larger brakes, a unique suspension, and wider tires.
Inside the 2025 Kia K5, owners will find a new dashboard layout that incorporates the digital gauge cluster and infotainment system into one singular curved pane of glass. This design adds a more modern look to the K5, further complemented by new driver-assist features like Smart Cruise Control. The center console has been improved adding larger cup holders, a wireless charging pad, and USB-C ports. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available and over-the-air updates help maintain functionality. For safety, the sedan now features parking distance warnings. Currently, the Kia K5 starts at an MSRP of $25,590 (plus destination fee). With so many new changes, however, it’s likely Kia will add a slight price bump for the 2025 Kia K5. For now, we’ll have to wait for more information.
