A Close Look At the 2024 Kia Sorento

The 2024 Kia Sorento arrives as a highly capable and versatile three-row SUV. Kia has updated the Sorento with a new refresh that gives the SUV new exterior and interior styling. While this refresh has not hit the hybrid version of the Sorento yet, it does give us a glimpse into what Kia is aiming for with one of its most popular SUVs. The South Korean automaker has been focused on its EV lineup lately having revealed a new concept called the Kia EV3. This electric SUV and others like the EV9 will help cement Kia as a sustainable automaker dedicated to EVs. For now, we’ll take a look at the 2024 Kia Sorento and see what consumers can expect. 

What To Expect From The 2024 Kia Sorento

For the new model year, the Kia Sorento arrives with a brand-new refresh. The three-row SUV sees new exterior styling, such as a reshaped grille and new headlights. The 2024 Sorento features more modern taillights and there are also new options for wheel designs. These updates give the Kia Sorento a more modern aesthetic, helping it stand out from others in its segment. A new off-road trim called the X-Pro also helps the Sorento stand out. Building off the previous X-Line package, this trim equips the SUV with 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. There are also roof racks and skid plates. 

Inside the 2024 Kia Sorento, owners will also find new styling in the way of a larger digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen. The three-row SUV features quality materials complemented by ambient lighting. For space, there is ample room for up to seven passengers. Captain chairs make traveling more comfortable and when the third row seats are folded down, owners have more than enough room for cargo. As far as driver assist and safety features go, the 2024 Sorento features blind spot monitoring and forward collision avoidance. A 12.3-inch touchscreen serves as the infotainment system.

As for its performance, the Kia Sorento offers several engine options. The first is a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that delivers 191 horsepower. The second is a turbocharged 2.5L four-cylinder that delivers 281 horsepower. Both are available with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. They are also paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid options are also available however the hybrid Sorento will not see the latest updates until the 2025 model year. Still, the hybrid Sorento comes with a 1.6L four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to deliver 261 horsepower. Whichever consumers choose, the 2024 Kia Sorento stands to offer high capability and versatility with crisp handling and smooth responsiveness. While pricing for the 2024 Sorento has not been disclosed yet, we expect the starting MSRP to be near $40,000 (plus destination fee).
